signon exception: TypeError: req.responseXML is null

When logging into an application, Firefox may display the this error message:

This is usually caused by third party cookies being disabled. Try the following:

  1. From the File menu, go to Preferences.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Enable "Accept third-party cookies" (see below)
  4. Close the preferences page, and retry.
